4/16/2016: Camping in Big Sur

Talk about a love/hate relationship.  I love the beauty of Big Sur.  I hate the zoo like atmosphere.

I was heading over to teach a day of wilderness medicine and we decided to make a camping trip out of it.  Little did we know that our quiet hidden spot had been discovered.  But then what hasn’t been.  There was someone camped in every turnout of every road off route 1.  The trail heads were jammed with parked cars.  How could they not find our spot.  We ended up in the exact same backcountry site as 2009 which was nice until 2 am when someone tried to join us.

Class started with a group discussion on how much busier the coast is.  At least I got some memorable photos.
